Cost versus Value?
I have had so many customers share their concerns about remodeling their homes because they are looking to get most or all of their money back upon selling the house. Ironically, most consumers don't ask those questions when they are purchasing a car, big screen TV, or a new XBox system. It seems to be a given when they buy something at full retail they will immediately lose the value of that item when they walk off the lot or out of the store.
So how can you determine what is right for you? Many factors contribute to Cost versus Value and many things are intangible. Such as artistic taste, functionality, structural components, health related safety products, and environmental control. Remodeling magazine has taken a lot of the guesswork out of your research for you and you can learn more about what projects are going to yield you the most for your investment. And remember, it IS an investment. Home remodeling is one of the safest places to put your money as historically proven, home values typically rise over time. Even in the heat of our economic downfall in 2006 home prices have slowly rebounded to a place where we are seeing steady growth.
